
On Thursday 9th October 1879, John Smith and Thomas Bougham appeared before the Wrexham Court. They were both charged by Mr Ralph, the Master of the Wrexham Workhouse, with obtaining admission to the workhouse under false names, and then having been granted admission to the workhouse, failing to work. For this offence, both men were sentenced to 21 days imprisonment with hard labour.
