A LITTLE PIECE OF HISTORY!
Exciting recent addition to our vintage silver stock, a lovely silver notebook and card case once owned by Captain Henry William Dyke, who was the Assistant Commander on the White Star Line ship “Britannic” which was a sister ship to the Titanic! He is mentioned in many accounts of the ship’s sinking during World War One, off the Greek coast.
He survived that and went on to a long and distinguished career in the Merchant Navy, and retired to a large house near Denbigh, where he got to know the Wrexham lady who inherited this and other items from him when he passed away.
The case is hallmarked Birmingham 1882, and carries the monogram AD, which we believe to be that of his father. It still has two of his original visiting cards inside, plus one or two brief hand written notes on the pages. You can own this unique piece for only £230! What a lovely Christmas gift for anyone interested in nautical history, particularly the White Star Line.
