
JOHN WATKIN ELIAS 1895 – 1931
ELLEN OWENS 1881 -1944
John Watkin was born in 1895, he was the youngest son of Owen Elias and Mary Ann Watkin. His father was a draper. Nothing is known of his life after the age of 16, and no marriage has been found. John Watkin died at Mona Villa aged just 35, he was buried on 21 February 1931.
Ellen Elias was the elder sister of John Watkin, she was born in 1881, she was still with her family in 1911, but nothing has been found until her marriage to William D Owens in 1928.
In 1939 the couple are at Mona Villa; William D is a firewood merchant. Ellen died aged 62 in the War Memorial Hospital and was buried with her brother on 1 May 1944.
This is a double plot and even though no inscription is visible there is another couple buried there.
RICHARD WATKIN ELIAS 1879 -1951
Richard Watkin Elias was born in Wrexham in 1879; he was the brother of John Watkin and Ellen Elias. Richard helped his father Owen Elias with the drapery business.
Richard Watkin married Alice New early in 1911 and they moved to Gerald Street, Wrexham. He was now an assistant hosier and outfitter. They don`t seem to have had any children.
In 1939 the couple are in 128 Park Avenue, Richard has retired, there is a note in the index stating he had registered in the Mercantile marine war service but had no official records.
Richard Watkin died at the Royal Infirmary, Chester and was buried on 2 April 1951 aged 72.

ALICE NEW 1872 – 1942
Alice was born in Wrexham in 1872, she was the youngest child of Joseph Thomas New and Mary Molyneux, her father was a coach painter from Liverpool, her mother was born in Aberystwyth. By 1891 Alice and her sister Annie was both shop women in a “fancy respository” one of her siblings was a schoolteacher and another an accountant. They were a well educated family.
Her father died in 1894 in Chester he was 67, and the whole family except one are living there in 1901. All are unmarried even her elder brothers who are in their 40s. Alice is 29.
Her father Joseph Thomas died in 1894 aged 68 and her mother Mary died in 1909 aged 79, both are buried in Overleigh Cemetery, Chester. Alice married Richard Watkin Elias in Chester early in 1911. No children have been found.
