A Tribute to the employees of Air Products – 1957-2009

Air Products moved out after more than 50 years at its home in Acrefair, with the last members of a 200 strong workforce finally leaving on 18th December 2009.

John Edwards, who had worked at the site for 33 years, came up with the idea to record a song and set about penning lyrics to commemorate the history of the plant and the impact of the closure on local people.

Up to 30 emplotees recorded the chorus of the song, based on Welsh songwriter Dafydd Iwan’s – Yma O Hyd.

The original song , which translates as Here Forever, has been adapted from it’s original subject of protecting the Welsh language.

The new Lyrics, tackle the subject of the closure and the importance of remembering the history of the site in years to come.

Four students from Glyndwr Universiy’s – Studio recording technology course – Steve Jones, Alexandra Panizzoli, Hugo Rossi and Przemyslaw Hatias – recorded (@ The Wall Studio), produced the song and designed a complete dvd. The worked in conjuction with the band – The New Foos – and recorded the chorus with the 24 employees from Air Products.
