Bandstand will disappear 1973

A piece of Wrexham’s history will soon be removed — but not entirely lost for ever. (This was the plan) The bandstand (below) in Wrexham Parciau, which used to be a , popular rendezvous for Sunday brass band con-certs in the summer, is to be demolished. It has not been used for several years and is unsafe. The ornamental pillars in the bandstand are to be kept and used to make a pergola — a covered walk formed of climbing plants trained over trellis work. The pillars will bel erected along the wall leading to the avenue o limes in the Parciau Trailing roses will be, planted near them.

Thankfully the bandstand has been restored and still used today for many outdoor events.
